PIC welcomes a to the team Kim Hrushenski, Director, Partners In Compliance is pleased to welcome a new member to his PIC team. Shelley Chayeski has a long history with the program having been safety manager at a PIC carrier as well as having generously donated her time to sit as a committee chair and advisory council member for the program. Shelley took a break from college in the ‘90s and has worked with several carriers. While on that break, Shelley took work with a carrier, intending only a short-term relationship and a return to college. Instead the job turned into a great opportunity that lasted for many years and lead to a long-term commitment to the transportation industry. Her experience is drawn from time spent with carriers from courier and less than truckload, to truckload, flat bed, curtain side and pneumatic. Shelley has served the industry in a variety of roles, beginning with OS&D (over, short, damage), Claims, Inside Sales, Operations, Driver Retention, Driver Services Manager and, most recently, as Safety Manager with a large carrier. She also spent the past two years working very closely with WCB to ensure rates and claims were handled properly. Shelley can be reached at 403-214-3443 or email partner3@amta.ca. Weigh2GoBC welcomes Alberta-based carriers Weigh2GoBC is a network of weigh-in-motion and automatic vehicle identification equipment that allows commercial vehicles to report to BC’s inspections stations electronically. There are no fees associated with this self-serve program. Weigh2GoBC has a small number of transponders available at no cost on a first come, first served basis and based on fleet size. RETURN TO TABLE OF CONTENTS Vehicles that are enrolled in the program register a transponder that sits on the dash of the truck and uses radio frequency to communicate. As the vehicle approaches a W2G equipped station, the credentials are checked and the driver is signaled a green light that allows them to bypass that station or a red light, which means that they have to report. Participating stations are at Hope, Kamloops, Golden, Prince George, Quesnel, Vanderhoof, Pacific, Nordel and Parksville. The benefits to the carrier are in saving time and fuel by not having to stop at every station as well as reducing the amount of GHGs being emitted into the environment by trucks not having to idle through the stations. The benefit to CVSE staff is allowing them the time to focus their efforts on the non-compliant carriers. For more information: www.Weigh2GoBC.ca Maximize your fleet’s performance from A to B.
